Good Afternoon MSC members

2025 Club Reminders

Correct Squash Footwear (1st 2025 whinge…..this is still not being done)

Every member is reminded that the correct Non-Marking Indoor Court Footwear is to be wore whilst on court, it is the members responsibility to make sure that any guests or their siblings they bring into the club also wear the correct footwear whilst on court, this isn’t a request, this is a club rule.

Carpark Blue Cones and Entrance Door (2nd 2025 whinge…..this also is still not being done)

With the success of the introduction of the Blue carpark cones I would like to remind you all that it would be very helpful if you all replaced the cones back to the middle of the carparking bay once you have moved your car off the carpark, a lot of members are just driving off leaving the cone stranded in no-man’s land exposing the parking bays to non-members.

Please remember to double lock the front door, on many occasions I have found the club un-locked (bottom chubb lock) and no members in the club building, if you are the last person in the club any time of the day or night, please double lock the front door when you leave the club.

Club Night Food is Back…….

Food this week is 5 bean chilli + Rice + Tortilla Wraps (£6.50)

Bar Price Rise

We have kept the Bar prices as low as we could for as long as we could but unfortunately, we have had to increase the cost of some beer prices, you can still enjoy one of our 27 different beers from £3.50 or under.

MSC Box Leagues are live

The new 2025 box leagues went live last Friday 3rd Jan, these leagues will be running until Sunday 16th Feb, this date will not be extended and paper score sheets will be removed from the notice board on the same day.

Would like to welcome 3 new players to the box leagues that will certainly add even more strength to our boxes, they are Simon Ashby, Tom Parham, Cass Landy and the returning Paul Fincham.

Due to adding these players to the leagues it has been necessary to juggle a few players about meaning some players might not have been promoted, some players have also been removed from the leagues due to having history for not playing any of their games.

We now have 6 strong boxes with 6 players per box, if player want to be re-entered into the box leagues, please let me know so that you can be added in February

Please make sure you enter your score on the Maidstone squash club mycourts web site or / and place your score on the score sheets on the club notice board.

As in the previous years all box matches won will be added up at the end of the year to have a Box League play-off’s (see below 2024 players list)

MSC 90th Birthday Celebration

The club will be celebrating its 90th birthday in 2025 and I would like you the MSC members to put forward some ideas that will make this club milestone a weekend to remember, the committee have a few ideas themselves but it’s for every member to have an input so we can celebrate this birthday in style and in a way every member attends.

I hope one or more of our longer serving members can shed light on how the club come about so that we can publish it to all our current members.

Being possibly one of oldest of a handful squash only clubs left in the UK I personally hope that a whole weekend of celebrations can be enjoyed by all our members, a date for these celebrations is still to be finalised but its thought that the actual birthday date is September / October time (watch this space)

Friday night is club night

Courts available from 5.20pm continuing until late, just turn up, Play and Socialise with other likeminded club players.

There will be a 8 or 10 minute time limited to each pair of players on court, straight into warming up and then playing with no limit on where the score ends up, once the 8 or 10 minutes has been reached the alarm will sound and the next 2 players can go on court to play their 8 or 10 minutes.

A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending regardless of how many games they play

Club Night Food is Back…….

Food this week is 5 bean chilli + Rice + Tortilla Wraps

Darren
