Weekly Club News

Welcome to this week news letter

Light Meters

Please be very careful of the coinage that is put into the light meters, they accept £2, £1 and 50p pieces only …..not 1p pieces as these block the meter. We had an incident on Monday where a 1p coin was put into the meter and rendered the meter unusable, with members unable to get the lights to turn on due to this blockage, as luck would have it a trustee was in the club around the same time with keys to the meters and removed the offending penny.

Court Shoes

A reminder to all New Members that Non -Marking courts shoes are the only shoes allowed on the squash courts with no exception. If any member is found to be wearing outdoor shoes, designer trainers or Footwear not designed for playing indoor court games will be asked to leave the court area immediately to change to the correct footwear for playing squash or racket ball.

Front Door

Could we all be very vigilant in making sure that the front door has properly closed behind you when either entering or leaving the club, we have over the past week or so had the top catch locked in the open position, the door left open and even a Key left in the lock on the outside of the door, so please to keep all our belonging safe and the club safe make sure that the door has closed properly The member that now cannot get into the club as I have his key… can claim it back when I’m in the club Wednesday / Thursday or Friday evenings

Racket Grips and Balls

We now have a selection of Karakal PU super grips, Dunlop Squash and Racket Balls available to purchase from the bar. Prices will be advertised on the notice boards in due course

Squash Box Leagues

As you know the box leagues went live last Friday and hard copies of the leagues will be posted on the notice board this coming Friday. All the leagues look competitive and there are definitely a couple of games that you don’t want to miss watching. If any member wants to join the box leagues just let me know and I can include you in the next round

Friday Night is Club Night

As usual the club night will start at 5.30pm until late playing a quick-fire game of first to 15 (American scoring) then rotating against other club players. A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending. As it seems that a good “Curry” is required on a Friday night we will be having “Chicken Madras + Rice and Naan” and our non-meat option of “Mushroom Madras + Rice + Naan” both served with a drink of your choice all for just £6 per person

Racket ball Club Night

Start time of 6.40pm until 8pm Thursday 23rd March, this week we have a slightly shorten club night due to a Team Squash match that needs to be squeezed in before the end of the season. Racket Ball Club night is run the same as the squash club night where a £2 light fee will be charged to ALL players playing. We are still looking for more regular players and new to Racket Ball players to turn up so that we can get a good social vibe going to promote Racket Ball within the Club. We have spare rackets and balls behind the bar that can be used during Club Night so there is no excuse for not giving it a go and having a very enjoyable evening.
