Good Afternoon All MSC members

Building Security

Could all members please make sure that if you open a window that you shut the window when you leave the club, also as a reminder that if you are the last person to leave the club please double lock the front door.

Building Renovations / improvements

With the painting of the outside of the building now complete I think you will agree that it’s a massive improvement, (see below pics) all the back spaces are now available to be used and can ask all members to use the back spaces first so that we can get the maximum number members park at the club.

We will be looking at having the parking bays re-lined and the new Club signage should be installed by the end of the month.

Parking Cones

With the introduction of the blue parking cones it seems that only MSC members are parking in carpark now, I know its early days and things can change quickly but if all members buy into the slight inconvenience of moving and replacing the cones once they have park or vacated the carpark hopefully fingers cross this early trend will continue into the future.

Quiz Night

Yes back by very popular demand, we have again secured the services of the brilliant quiz master Ben Crozier, the quiz night will be held on Saturday 15th June @ 7pm in the club bar area

Please requester your interest at Hurty’s Bar, we had over 40 members attend last time so let me know if you are attending and if you are entering a team of 2-4 or 6 cost per quizzer is again just £5.

Box League scoring system

We will be implementing a small change to the Box League scoring system this month (May boxes onwards) this is generally used at many other squash clubs around the country and is designed to encourage and reward all players that turn up and play there Box games, the change to the scoring system is that a player will get 1 point for turning up to play, and the wining player will get a extra point for winning the match.

Example

Player 1 V Player 2, ……………………………….Player 1 beats Player 2, 3-0, the score should be recorded as a 5-1 win to player 1 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

Player 1 V Player 2 ………………………………..Player 1 loses to player 2 2-3, the score should be recorded as 5-3 win to player 2 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

If a player fails to turn up at the time and date arranged it will be classed as a “walk over” to the player that has turned up at the club to play the match and will be rewarded the win, a 5-0 score should be recorded

2 Bonus points will be awarded to any player playing all his games.

Friday night is club night

Courts available from 5.20pm continuing until late, just turn up, Play and Socialise with other likeminded club players.

There will be a 10-minute time limited to each pair of players on court, straight into warming up and then playing with no limit on where the score ends up, once the 10 minutes has been reached the alarm will sound and the next 2 players can go on court to play there 10 minutes.

A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending regardless of how many games they play

Due to Hurty taking part in a Squash competition in Amsterdam there will be no food this week but club night will be on as usual with Brendan T stepping in to look after the bar.

Regards

Darren
