Good Afternoon MSC Members

It has become very obvious the we have members or guests of members that just don’t give a monkeys about our squash courts, we still have players wearing outdoor trainers that are NOT “Non-Marking Indoor Court shoes” and therefore are not fit for purpose, but we have sunk to a new low as we have players who seem to think it’s OK to wear farm yard footwear coming straight from the allotment and onto our courts “CAKED IN MUD”……………….. so whatever members or guests was on Court 1 between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon (4.30pm) please start to respect our / your courts.. as this has to stop NOW !!!

To replace just 1 court floor is £4500 (not fitted) so you can understand my frustration with the persistent miss use of our courts by members or members guests

For the members that dont know what Indoor court shoes look like, please see below, this is just a very small selection available at Sports Direct for as little as £18 for juniors and £29 adults, our nearest sports direct to the club is in the Maidstone Mall Shopping Centre

The below notice has been publish many times so there is absolutely NO excuse not to wear the correct "indoor non - marking court footwear"

Squash Court Footwear

We would like to remind all players that the correct Indoor Non-Marking Squash Court Footwear must be worn whilst playing squash, there are many black marks that have appeared on court 2 in the last week or so that are impossible to remove. If members are bringing Non Members into the club to play squash it is the members responsibility to make sure that there guest are wearing the correct footwear

Wear the correct footwear or you will be asked to come off court immediately

Club AGM

At the upcoming Club AGM scheduled for the 22 April we plan to adopt a set of updated Club Rules governing how the Club operates and manages its affairs. These same rules have largely operated since the Club's foundation but needed updating since their last review in 2004 mainly focusing on how we introduce new members into the Club and how the online court booking system works. A set of the updated rules will be placed on the Club noticeboard and some spares kept behind the bar ( ask Darren) if you would like to review them. If you have any queries please email Andrew at treasurer@maidstonesquashclub.com.

Club Front Door

As the club can be accessed 24/7 we would just like to remind members that if they are the last to leave the club to double lock the front door when they leave the premises regardless of the time day or night.

Box League scoring system

We will be implementing a small change to the Box League scoring system next month (May boxes onwards, not the box games that are presently being played) this is generally used at many other squash clubs around the country and is designed to encourage and reward all players that turn up and play there Box games, the change to the scoring system is that a player will get 1 point for turning up to play, and the match wining player will get a extra point for winning the match.

Example

Player 1 V Player 2, ……………………………….Player 1 beats Player 2, 3-0, the score should be recorded as a 5-1 win to player 1 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

Player 1 V Player 2 ………………………………..Player 1 loses to player 2, 2-3, the score should be recorded as 5-3 win to player 2 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

If a player fails to turn up at the time and date arranged it will be classed as a “walk over” to the player that has turned up at the club to play the match and will be rewarded the win, a 5-0 score should be recorded

We don’t want to over complicate things and if this change to the scoring system don’t work then happy to hear suggestions and make the necessary changes.

Friday night is club night
