Would like to bring to everyone attention that only “Court Shoes” should be wore on our squash courts, we have some of the best courts in Kent and we intend to keep them in the condition they are for all to enjoy, so please do not wear designer trainers, black soled outdoor recreational trainers as these leave black marks that are very difficult to remove from the wooden flooring. We ask all member to be vigilante and if you see anyone on the courts with inappropriate footwear is to speak to the player or report it back to myself who will talk to the member privately.
You may have notice that there has been some electrical wiring going on around the club over the last week or so, this is the installation of a new Fire Alarm Panel (just inside the front door) with all new hard-wired smoke detectors and call points being position around the club.
This was a recommendation from the local fire brigade after a recent fire inspection, all work should be completed by the end of the week. Thanks must go out to John Hogwood and Nigel Millins for their time working closely with the local Fire Officer in order to keep our club safe and up to currant legislation.
MSC Box Squash Leagues
Just a week to go so if you haven’t played you box games get that email, text phone out contact who you need to play and hound them into playing the match before we close the boxes, don’t forget to submit your score too either on the sheets in the club or online.
Friday Night is Club Night
There will be no food this week due to the mouthy chef being away at Twickenham watching the mighty “All Blacks” V “The Springboks” in a Pre-World Cup warm up game
The bar will be open for club night and be staffed by Kasia
As usual the club night will start at 5.30pm until late playing a quick-fire game of first to 15 (American scoring) then rotating against other club players. A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending
Following the trial of “When its gone its Gone” on the two Beers below, I am pleased to say that it didn’t take long for the stocks to be depleted. The signs advertising the deal around the club had to be removed due to selling out every bottle and can in the deal, that’s 20 cans of Cruzcampo and 24 bottles of Corona…..thank you all so much for making this special deal a success
The next “When its gone its gone” promotion will start Club Night Friday 1st September
TW Canterbury Squash Open (update)
What a weekend of squash at all levels, but more importantly to MSC who had 4 players competing against some of the best players in the country within their squash grade. Competing in “D” Grade John O’Mahoney had a very solid competition with 2 wins and 2 loses. In “C” Grade Darren Trebble playing in a knockout format lost both his games and was on the side-lines (at the bar) by 9.15am Saturday morning his weekend of squash over. Andy Scott had a fantastic “C” Grade competition playing some of the best squash he has played in a long time beating some of the top seeded C graded players on his way to winning “C” grade outright.
