Good Morning All Club Members
Your weekly update on how our two Maidstone squash teams got on last week, unfortunately our run of wins for both team come to an end with both teams suffering loses to the same squash club
Maidstone 1 V Sundridge Park 1 (Maidstone 1 lost 4 -0 playing at Sundridge Park)
With Sundridge Park turning out a very strong team on paper and playing on home territory, it was going to be a big ask to bring some points home. Tom Williams tried his best to keep a very strong Sundridge parks no1 player Mark Mink honest but sucumed to the better player losing 3-0, John Hogwood faired a bit better taking a very well erned game off Ray Dunlop but eventuly lossing 3-1 to Ray. Next up was Dinesh Bansal to step onto the court, this time up against Ken Sheedy, and yet again the Sundridge player proved to strong with Dinesh losing 3-0. It didnt get any better for Tariq Chaundry coming up against Dave Hason to lose 3-0
Maidstone 2 V Sundridge Park 2 (Maidstone lost 4 - 0 playing at Home )
With the 1st team playing away to Sundrige park 1 on the same night, it was hope that their 2nd team sent to Maidstone would be weaker, this was not the case. “Big Dog” Phil Fray first up against a very quick player in Dylan Leong, “Big dog” known for being quick around a court himself was no match for Dylan’s speed, in what was a very close match “big dog” found himself losing 3 nil. Bill Thompson was next on court playing Jordan Woodhead, Bill looking in fine form took the first game comfortable with his tricky wristy game he plays, but all was not well as bill had pulled muscle in his leg and was now a sitting duck for Jordan to pick off, Bill battle on regardless to try to salvage more points but it was all in vain finally losing 3-1. Meanwhile Dan Cavalli was on court 2 having a titanic battle with Elliot Rose, Dan playing some fantastic squash went 2 games up with Elliot on the ropes, then in the 3rd game Elliot started a comeback to take the next 3 games and taking a very hard-fought win. With Darren “Hurty” Trebble’s opponent being flown in from Birmingham and arriving very late in the proceedings. In what was a very see-saw match with Matt Hornsby, “Hurty” taking the 1st game, Matt taking the 2nd game and so on it went. Playing with a lot of determination, niggle and hint of humour Matt eventually took the win 3-2
Again, Mrs Fray pulled out all the stops for yet another fantastic selection of food,
Thank You Kerrie its very much appreciated
Hope you all enjoyed the 2022 match reports, look forward to reporting on more matches in 2023
