Your weekly update on how our two Maidstone squash teams got on last week and it just gets better and better

Maidstone 1 V Bexley 6 Division 4 (Maidstone won 3-1 playing at home)

What can I say, this team is just getting stronger and stronger as the season rolls on, “Mighty” Mike Watson playing possibly his best match to date against Zachery Bhana, Zachery ranked 915 points above Mike on squash levels but that didn’t stop “Mighty” producing a epic battle, pushing Zachery to a 5 game match just losing out by the narrowest of margins in the fifth game to Zac. The same could be said for “Big Dog” Phil Fray digging in after being 2 games up, losing the next 2 games to emerge victorious in the fifth game (check out the scores below) both games a joy to watch. John Hogwood (Hoggers) clinically won against Dean Nicholson never letting Dean settle into any rhythm to take a straight 3 nil win. Dinesh Basal continuing his winning streak proving to be too strong against Karen Hume to take a 3-1 victory.

Maidstone 2 V Park Langley 3 Division 5 (Maidstone won 3-1)

Maidstone 2 having started the season with a 3 match straight losing streak the team seem to have turned a corner and now have a winning run of 4 games on the bounce, with the team captain “Big Dog” Phil Fray leading from the front and kicking off proceedings with a 3-1 win over Phil Rycroft, it was left to the rest of the team to put the big pants on and follow his example. “Hurty” Darren Trebble was up first, taking a straight 3 nil win over a bemused Marcus Yeo who spent the whole game wondering when “Hurty” was going to take the legendry All Blacks beanie off….. that’s never going to happen. Then “Big Bill” Thompson strolled onto court, he was up against Simon Atkinson who just seemed to be able to return everything Bill throw at him, but Bill was just too strong and he took a 3 nil win. With the match now in the bag it was down to Tom Williams to make it a clean sweep….but it was not Tom’s night, playing Laurence Sanders (stretch to his friends) returning everything Tom throw Laurence’s way, some of it must be said from near impossible court positions, Laurence played well to take the 3 nil win
