Happy new year to you all, I hope this finds you all fit and well and that you all had a great Christmas and new year…

Box Leagues

Its time to burn off the mince pies, cheeky port and cheese chasers, the new for 2026 box leagues will go live on Friday 10th Jan and will run until 22d Feb, there have been some tweaks to the boxes for 2026 which was outlined in previous newsletters in 2025.

There will now only be 5 players per box, this was done by request of some of the members playing in the boxes, by doing this it will mean that the boxes will have 4 different players to play each time the boxes are renewed, so it is still 2 up and 2 down going through the whole of 2026

A number of players have been removed from the boxes due to consistently not playing any matches, as mentioned again in newsletters in 2025… it’s 3 strikes and you are out and if you would like to rejoin the leagues then you will need to contact myself in the usual way.

By reducing the box leagues to 5 players it has meant some players will find their name either in the same Box or even dropped down 1 box this is the unfortunate consequence of reducing the number of players in the boxes

Club Box champion play off’s Friday 16th Jan @5pm onwards

As many of you will know we play a box league play-off at the end of each year to find out who is the ultimate box champion of 2025

I have saved all the results over the whole of 2025 from every player that has played in the box leagues and have come up with the top 12 players who have accumulated the most points over the year, I would like to invite the following players to the play off’s on Friday 16th Jan from 5pm….. these play-off’s will possible take 2-3 hours so any player from the top 12 that cannot make the date will be replaced with the next person in the reserve list.

All players will have 4-5 matches (subject to change and number of players attending), each match will be best of 3 games, American scoring to 11

The 12 finalists are

Linzi Reynolds, Paul Fincham, Cullam Huthwaite, Tom Parham, Lee Fincham, Paul Sutton, Martin Townend, Graeme Doherty, Brian Daniels, Ian Watson, Micheal Horsley and Darren Trebble

The reserves are

1st Alex Hubbart, 2nd Bruce Wilton 3rd Grant Dyer 4th Nick Peel

If any of the finalist cannot make it on the night please let me know asap as a reserve will be offered the place from the order above, if in the event that more that 4 players are unable to play and there are no more reserves available then the playoffs format will be tweaked to accommodate the players that can make the date and time

Friday Night is Club Night 9th Jan

Courts available from 5.20pm continuing until late, just turn up, Play and Socialise with other likeminded club players.

There will be a 8 or 10 minute time limited to each pair of players on court, straight into warming up and then playing with no limit on where the score ends up, once the 8 or 10 minutes has been reached the alarm will sound and the next 2 players can go on court to play their 8 or 10 minutes.

A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending regardless of how many games they play
