Good Afternoon MSC members

Two of our members ventured into the hostilities of our squash neighbours “The Mote Squash Club” to play in their annual 1 day graded competition held on the 4th Jan, with both players at the very peak of their physical fitness following the Christmas celebrations, with Phil Fray (seeded 1) playing in C grade and yours truly (seeded 4) being parachuted into D grade overnight due to a late withdrawal.

Think it’s fair to say that Phil Fray (player of the tournament @ canterbury) played to his true potential yet again and only just missing out on getting another player of the tournament, that accolade went to Maddie Hill of Bexley squash club whom he met and overcome in the C grade final winning 2-1.

As for Hurty in D grade, which was as usual a pit of vipers and bandits wanting to take the oldies on, needless to say between Mark Reeves and Hurty these young pretenders where all swept away on route to the final. With Mark Reeves a formidable opponent from Biddenden beating Hurty yet again winning 2-0

Box league play-off finals

With the 2024 box leagues completed, the play-off’s will be held at the club on Sunday 26th Jan 11pm onwards, (format to published shortly)

Please let me know if you are available to play on this date, as if you cannot make it then the next player with the most points from the reserve list will be asked to take your place.

MSC 90th Birthday Celebration

The club will be celebrating its 90th birthday in 2025 and I would like you the MSC members to put forward some ideas that will make this club milestone a weekend to remember, the committee have a few ideas themselves but it’s for every member to have an input so we can celebrate this birthday in style and in a way every member attends.

Being possibly one of oldest of a handful squash only clubs left in the UK I personally hope that a whole weekend of celebrations can be enjoyed by all our members, a date for these celebrations is still to be finalised but its thought that the actual birthday date is September / October time (watch this space)

Friday night is club night

Courts available from 5.20pm continuing until late, just turn up, Play and Socialise with other likeminded club players.

There will be a 8 or 10 minute time limited to each pair of players on court, straight into warming up and then playing with no limit on where the score ends up, once the 8 or 10 minutes has been reached the alarm will sound and the next 2 players can go on court to play their 8 or 10 minutes.

A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending regardless of how many games they play
