Good Afternoon MSC members

Building Renovations / improvements

The new signage has been installed above the entrance door and on the main wall overlooking the carpark, I think you will all agree that they are big, bold and fresh, giving the club back its identity following the repainting of the outside of the building. Both signs having LED over head trough lighting making the club even more visable during the long winter nights. These signs will also be complimented by additional outside LED lighting that will give better lighting around the entrance to the club and carpark area.

Box Leagues

The new leagues will go live Friday 12th July and will finish 31st August, hopefully giving all players enough time to get there games completed during the summer period. We welcome 4 new players joining the leagues this month, Kate Hall, Graeme Doherty, Charlie Emery and Spencer Bailey. The mid-year points positions for the end of year play-off Club Box League finals are as follows, in no particular order….Barry Clark, Phil Gamwell, Nick Peel, Dan Jarvis, John Hogwood, Martin Townend, Nigel Millins, Ian Watson, Paul Sutton and Michael Horsley, with just 5 points separating all of them it’s going to be close come the end of the year, win, lose or draw you collect points by playing all your games.

Please make sure that you add your score to the paper sheets on the notice board or on the online league system.

Box League scoring system

We will be implementing a small change to the Box League scoring system this month (May boxes onwards) this is generally used at many other squash clubs around the country and is designed to encourage and reward all players that turn up and play there Box games, the change to the scoring system is that a player will get 1 point for turning up to play, and the wining player will get a extra point for winning the match.

Example

Player 1 V Player 2, ……………………………….Player 1 beats Player 2, 3-0, the score should be recorded as a 5-1 win to player 1 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

Player 1 V Player 2 ………………………………..Player 1 loses to player 2 2-3, the score should be recorded as 5-3 win to player 2 (1 point per game won, 1 point to the player winning the match and 1 point to both players for turning up)

If a player fails to turn up at the time and date arranged it will be classed as a “walk over” to the player that has turned up at the club to play the match and will be rewarded the win, a 5-0 score should be recorded

2 Bonus points will be awarded to any player playing all his games.

Parking Cones

Please keep up the good work you are all doing by moving the cones when parking and replacing them when leaving, if you see the cones have been moved or knocked over please replace them back to the middle of the bay.

Would also like to bring to your attention that whilst you are getting out your car and moving the cones to park please make sure that sure that your car and belongings are safe……car door left open, engine running, handbag or wallet left on the front seat in full view of anyone that might just be passing at the same time, please be careful.

Friday night is club night

Courts available from 5.20pm continuing until late, just turn up, Play and Socialise with other likeminded club players.
