Weekly Club News

Welcome to this week’s news letter

Friday Night is Club Night

As usual the club night will start at 5.30pm until late playing a quick-fire game of first to 15 (American scoring) then rotating against other club players. A £2 light fee will be charged for all players attending

We have a couple of “Beef and Ale Potato topped pie” also “Bang Bang Sausage Surprise + rice” and you are really being spoilt this week with a few “Chicken Curry’s + Naan bread” due to a slight down turn of numbers for club night I won’t be doing a veggie option this week, rest assured normal service will be resumed Friday 16th with a Veggie option available.

Court Start and Finish Times

Please start and finish your games at the correct times and on the correct court you have booked there could be other players that have booked that court waiting to start their games, this is only really a problem generally weekdays between 5pm and 8pm.

To help everyone a new clock will be installed on the centre column between the court doors downstairs and new signage identifying which court is which will also be installed on the doors so that players are playing on the correct court, we have 2 clocks that are visible from the courts on the same column upstairs in the bar area so you don’t have to keep coming off court to check the time

Hurtys Bar @ MSC

The Bar this week (w/c 5th) will be open as follows

Wednesday 5.30pm until late

Thursday 5.30pm until late

Friday 3pm until late

MSC Squash Team News, match update

With the squash team riding high with 2 good wins to date, expectations were high last night (Tuesday) when MSC played hosts to the “Waterfront Squash Team”….. MSC rotating its players for the summer season saw 3 changes to the line-up, Dinesh Bansal playing at #1, Andy Scott at #2, Tom Parham at #3 and Paul Wilson at #4.

With Dinesh #1 eager to get on court he kicked off proceeding on court 2, unfortunately he was up against the aptly named Josef “Bolt”, …Bolt by name, Bolt by nature, as the game got in to its swing, Dinesh found himself up against a very quick and able opponent, try as he might there was no stopping “Bolt” who took a straight 3nill win over Dinesh

Andy Scott #2 was getting the better of Jon Ward in the 1st game, come the 2nd game Jon Ward was coming out fighting and took the game to 16/14 with Andy taking the 2nd game, Andy’s fitness and determination eased him thru the 3rd game and gave him a 3nill win over Jon Ward

Tom Parham #3 fresh back from back surgery and a holiday in the US meant that he has very little court time building up to this game with Ashley Scott. Tom started well in the 1st game going out to a ridicules 16/18 score line throwing everything on the table to try to get the game, it wasn’t to be Ashley eventually nicked the 1st game. With such a long 1st game and the lack of court time it was no surprise that Tom started to run out of steam, he tried his best but Ashley was just far to strong on the day winning 3nill

Paul Wilson #4 was next up to get the full treatment from Eric Nonjang, again the lack of competitive squash court time reared its ugly head with Paul really struggling at times to keep with Eric, Paul never really got going and definitely playing way below par.. Eric played a very good game, moving Paul about the court and cruised to a 3nil win over Paul

As usual MSC team put in a good performance overall but on this occasion ended up losing 3-1 to “Waterfront 2 Squash Team”
