Friday Night is Club Night / Box league championship

Good Afternoon All

Club Night this Friday 9th December
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible this coming Friday as it’s the Maidstone Squash Box League play off’s to find our 2022 Box League Champion.

Club night will still be on, but the play off games will take centre stage with any club night games being played whilst our 4 contenders take short breaks between their matches. We will be starting the play off’s as close to 5pm as possible as each play will have to play 3 matches, best of 5 games to 11, if after the 4 players have played there 3 games and are tied on points then a 1 game shot out to 15 will be played to find our club 2022 champion.

Due to the running of this competition I decided not to have any of my wonderful bar food this week…………………..Sorry it will be back at the next Club Night

Club Accounts For those of you who asked about the Club accounts a week or so ago, they are now posted on the notice board halfway up the stairs.

Members News
Both John O’Mahoney and Darren Trebble entered the 2022 Thanet Open on Sunday (4th), both had entered “D” grade.

John lost his first-round match against a player drafted in from “C” grade to make up numbers, although he lost his first game it put him in prime position to go win the Plate, unfortunately maybe the big stage got the better of him and he really didn’t play the squash I know he could play, losing his semi final game and in effect his day was over.

Darren didn’t do that much better either, he also lost to the same “C” graded player in his second-round match, meaning he was in no mans land fighting for a final position no higher than 4th, the only joy he took home with him was that he did beat both the number 1 seed and number 2 seeded player in his grade. But out of all it we both had a good day, saw some fantastic squash and will return to fight in another competition in the new year, watch this space…..!
